Nothing happens when you press the remote or the wall button. We work the chain in order: power at the outlet, the on-board fuse, the two 12V backup batteries, then the control board itself — the ALL-BLDC PRO on current DC units. We fit genuine All-O-Matic boards rather than a generic substitute that will not talk to your existing remotes and accessories.
Almost always the safety circuit, not the motor. A misaligned photo eye, a spider web across the lens, moisture in a splice, or a loop detector that has drifted will all hold a gate standing open. We trace the safety circuit end to end and set it back to factory behaviour so the gate closes on its own again.
On a chain-drive slide unit — SL-45, SL-90, SL-100, SL-150 or SL-175 — this usually means a stretched or thrown chain, a sheared key on the drive sprocket, or a worn idler. On an SW-series swing arm it points to the gearbox or the internal drive chain instead. Completely different repairs, which is why the diagnosis matters more than the part.
Limits drift over time. The gate starts stopping short, driving into the stop, or reversing for no reason. We reset travel and force limits to spec, replace pitted contacts and failed relays, and swap surge-damaged boards for genuine units. The older AC operators are discontinued, so when an AC board fails we will tell you plainly whether it is worth chasing a used part or moving the gate to a current DC PRO unit.
An operator is only as good as the gate it is bolted to. Sagging frames, worn hinges, seized V-track rollers, cracked welds, posts that have shifted in the soil. We weld, sandblast and fabricate in house, so we straighten the gate itself instead of asking the motor to fight it every cycle.
When an operator is genuinely finished we replace it with the right unit for the job. An SW-350DC PRO carries a swing leaf up to 2,500 lb and 22 ft; the slide range runs from the SL-45 up to the SL-175 at 8,000 lb and 100 ft. As an authorized dealer we install genuine equipment with the factory warranty intact, and we coordinate permits where the property needs them.

Usually not. A gate that opens normally and refuses to close is almost always being held open by a safety input — a photo eye out of alignment, a wet edge sensor, or a loop fault. The motor is generally fine. We find the input that is holding it rather than bypassing it.
With the gate itself kept in good order, a decade or more is normal on residential duty. What shortens that is rarely the operator — it is a heavy leaf on tired hinges making the motor work far harder than it was sized for.
Often repair. We test the board, the transformer and the limit switches before condemning anything. Boards get replaced when they have genuinely failed, not because it is the quickest line on an invoice.
